Bates College has a rich history of developing Black leaders who dedicate themselves to service and stewardship. The Benjamin Mays Alumni Society is dedicated to sustaining this legacy for future generations.
The Society was formed in 2019 to honor Dr. Benjamin E. Mays and his fellow pioneers. They paved the way for all Bates students of color so that we may continue to follow in the path that they cleared.
The mission of the The Society is to strengthen Bates College by directly addressing the need for sustainable support of Black alumni and establishing mutually beneficial engagement among Black alumni, students, faculty and staff.
